Barbara Jeanne Westfall Jones, 81, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, was born the daughter of Charles Allen and Minnie B. Westfall in Crawfordsville Indiana on Sept 19, 1919 and passed away peacefully at her home in Rancho Bernardo, CA on Sept 6, 2001. Born and raised in Crawfordsville, she was a 1938 graduate of CHS; attended the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis; married Charles Roscoe Jones, a native of New Castle, IN in 1941 at the Wabash College Chapel in Crawfordsville; and later moved to New Castle. She has also resided in Chicago; Flossmoor, Il; Delmar, NY: Bronxville, NY: Westport, Ct; McLean, VA and Rancho Bernardo. Barbara was a devoted and loving wife and mother of two children, and an active supporter of her children’s activities, including local PTA; Cub Scouts; Boy Scouts; Brownies; Girl Scout and the United Methodist Church. Her own activities included the Volunteer Auxiliary of the Albany NY Medical Center and serving as the President of the Newcomers Clubs of Flossmore, IL and Delmar, NY. An avid golfer, she was a previous member of Olympia Fields Country Club; Olympia, Field, Il and Wolferts Roost Country Club, Albany NY; and a current member of Stone Ridge Country Club in Poway, Ca. She also enjoyed gardening and took great pride in having her home and gardens included in the Rancho Bernardo Annual Garden Club Tours. Barbara enjoyed traveling extensively with family and friends throughout the US, inclugin Alaska; as well as Europe, Mexico; Central and South America and the Panama Canal. She is predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Charles Roscoe Jones; a sister, M. Margareat Westfall; a sister, Shriley Westfall Weimer and an infant grandson, Cameron James Ryan. She is survived by her son, Philip Kent Jones and his wife, Glenna of Poway, CA; a daughter, Sherry Lynn Jones Ryan of Rancho Bernardo, CA; a sister, Virginia Westfall Lamb of Jacksonville, FL; her grandchildren, Lauren K. Larson of Ridgefield, CT; Douglas K. Jones of Wilton, CT; Christopher J. Ryan of Lomita, CA; Jennifer L. Ryan of Carlsbad, CA; Brian K. Jones of Gurnee, IL; Amy E. Jones of St. Charles IL and Stephanie Buschardt of Powa; her great grandchildren, John Larwon and Michael, Sarah, Brian and Stephen Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held on Monday Sept 10, 2001, at the Poway-Bernardo Mortuary, Powa, CA. A reception in celebration of her life was held at her home following the services. Graveside inurnment will be at the Oak Hill Masonic Cemetery West Grant Avenue, Crawfordsville IN in October.
